Dionaea Red Piranha: The colorful selection that is often misnamed. Do you want a Dionaea with real bite? Then Red Piranha is the plant for you. This selection stands out for its intense, deeper red colors and typical tooth shape, but beware: in trade, this plant is still too often confused with other varieties, especially Akai Ryu (Red Dragon).

What makes Red Piranha interesting? It's all about the dark red to almost purple color pattern and especially the characteristic tooth shape, which is shorter and more robust than ordinary Venus flytraps. This gives the traps that typical "piranha look": compact and menacing. Red Piranha also grows slightly more compactly than the typical Venus flytrap. The color becomes more intense and darker the more direct sunlight the plant receives.

The difference with similar varieties: This is important. Red Piranha is unfortunately regularly confused with Red Dragon in the market. The essential difference: Red Dragon has strikingly long, protruding teeth, while Red Piranha has more compact, less dramatic tooth formation.

Characteristics:

• Height: Standard size but slightly more compact than most Venus flytraps.
• Appearance: Intense dark red to purple, compact tooth shape (NOT long like Red Dragon).
• Hardiness: Well suited for outdoor winter dormancy (if pot is large enough).
