Sarracenia leucophylla
Sarracenia leucophylla is one of the most popular pitcher plants. This is due to its white color, which gives the plant its nickname, the white pitcher plant. This carnivorous plant is winter-hardy. The pitchers can grow over 80 cm tall (sometimes up to 120 cm) in a cold greenhouse or conservatory. This plant blooms in spring, and the flowers are usually red. Besides pitchers, this plant also produces non-carnivorous winter leaves. There are two varieties: var. leucophylla has distinct veins all over the pitcher, while var. alba has less distinct veins, making the plant appear almost entirely white.
Plants are usually sent with one growing point, which can bloom the following year (mature).
