Sarracenia psittacina

The name of Sarracenia psittacina comes from the Greek "psittakos" which means parrot. This pitcher plant is therefore also called parrot pitcher plant. The pitchers are horizontal and form a beautiful compact rosette. There are two varieties: var. psittacina and var. okefenokeensis. The latter is the largest variety. Furthermore, both varieties have fully red plants and fully green plants, as well as everything in between. As with most North American pitcher plants, Sarracenia psittacina also flowers in spring. The flowers are red and about 4-5 cm wide.
