Nepenthes x hookeriana

Nepenthes x hookeriana is a cross that has existed for a long time, as this hybrid is not only man-made but also occurs naturally in places like Borneo, Malaysia, Singapore, and Sumatra. It is a cross between the pitcher plants Nepenthes ampullaria and Nepenthes rafflesiana. This carnivorous plant is particularly striking due to the spots on its pitchers.

Because it is a cross between two lowland (think steamy jungle) species, it means that the plant particularly prefers a spot with high humidity. Therefore, this carnivorous plant is extremely suitable for a terrarium. On the windowsill, it can be more difficult if the humidity is too low.


Tip: when the plant arrives, fill the pitchers with water as they have been emptied for shipping. For new pitchers, this is not necessary as the plant produces its own digestive fluids.
