Nepenthes x hookeriana is a hybrid that has existed for a long time, as this hybrid is not only man-made but also occurs naturally in places like Borneo, Malaysia, Singapore, and Sumatra. It is a cross between the pitcher plants Nepenthes ampullaria and Nepenthes rafflesiana. This carnivorous plant is particularly striking due to the speckles on its pitchers.
Because it is a cross between two lowland species (think of a steamy jungle), this means that the plant primarily prefers a location with high humidity. Therefore, this carnivorous plant is ideally suited for a terrarium. It can be more difficult on a windowsill if the humidity is too low.
Tip: when the plant arrives, fill the pitchers with water as they are emptied for shipping. This is not necessary for new pitchers as the plant produces its own digestive fluids.
