The scent of the flowers is often described as pleasant in this species. However, the ornamental value, as with other pitcher plants, lies in the carnivorous pitchers. The pitchers of \u003cem\u003eSarracenia rubra\u003c\/em\u003e grow to between 30 and 60 cm tall, depending on the plant's genetics.
